Sodium Tripolyphosphate (STPP) is also known as Pentasodium Triphosphate or Sodium Triphosphate. It is a sodium salt of Triphosphoric Acid. Manufactured by mixing Disodium Phosphate and Monosodium phosphate. STPP is used in a various range of application such as in Manufacturing of Cleaning Products, Food Preservatives, Water Treatment Facilities.
Application
1.) STPP acts as a powerful cleaning agent in the manufacture of cleaning products. It improves the ability of various ingredients in the detergent to penetrate the fibers of clothes as well as other surfaces more deeply and aids in foaming.
2.) STPP is used as food preservatives, it gives a fresh appearance to meat, seafood improves their texture and slows down the spoilage. This is done by improving the water holding capacity of animal products.
3.) STPP is used in petroleum refining, metallurgy, mine applications, water treatment because of its pH buffering ability, dirt emulsification and prevention of deposition, hydrolysis of grease and dissolving dispersing dirt particles.
4.) Other application such as pigment dispersant in the paint, as a tanning agent in making leather, as an additive in toothpaste due to its cleaning action.
