Uses
Copper hydroxide in ammonia solution, known as Schweizer’s reagent, possesses the interesting ability to dissolve cellulose. This property led to it being used in the production of rayon, a cellulose fiber.
Copper hydroxide has been combined with latex paint, making a product designed to control root growth in potted plants. Secondary and lateral roots thrive and expand, resulting in a dense and healthy root system.
Copper Hydroxide is blue flocculent precipitation with a density of 3.37, a melting point of 80ºC, the dry powder presents blue powder or crystal, insoluble in water, decomposition by heat, slightly amphoteric, soluble in acid, ammonia, and sodium cyanide, soluble in alkaline glycerol solution, heated to 60-80ºC dark, high-temperature decomposition into black copper oxide and water.
Copper Hydroxide is used as mordant, catalyst, fungicide, and pigment, and used for dyeing paper, used as an analytical reagent, mordant; Copper salt raw material, mordant, rayon, pigment, coloring paper, used as a fungicide, ship bottom antifouling paint components.
