Chromic Acid is a strong acid and oxidizing agent. When neutralized with alkalis, chromic acid forms dichromate or chromate compounds. In oxidation reactions, the chromium atom is reduced from the hexavalent to trivalent state. Chromic acid is used in the chrome plating process.
