SODIUM HYPOCHLORITE, pale greenish-yellow dilute solution commonly known as liquid bleach or simply bleach, a household chemical widely used (since the 18th century) as a disinfectant or a bleaching agent or simply as a bleach. The compound in solution is unstable and easily decomposes, liberating chlorine, which is the active principle of such products. Indeed, sodium hypochlorite is the oldest and still most important chlorine-based bleach.Because of the chlorine, a significantly powerful oxidising agent, sodium hypo chlorite is extensively used in various fields as a disinfectant or simply as a bleach.
Besides all its bleaching nature,Sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) is a compound that can be effectively used for water purification. It is used on a large scale for surface purification, odor removal and water disinfection.
