TIPS for Cleaning with Ammonia :::
Oil Grease Cutter : Ammonia is wonderful for cleaning and cutting grease and is very inexpensive to use. Mix half and half with water in a spray bottle, spray, then watch the ammonia do the work, it's amazing how well it cuts grease so quickly.
Oven Cleaning : To clean an oven, fill a glass baking dish with ammonia and place in a cold oven overnight. The next morning, remove ammonia and wipe down sides with wet cloth. The fumes from the ammonia will have cut through the grease and come off with ease.
Kitchen Floor Cleaning : Mix ammonia and RXSOL DISH WASH + vinegar, in a spray bottle to touch up soiled areas on the kitchen floor without doing the entire floor. Complet greasy matter will come out.
Laundary Application : Specific kinds of stains can quickly disappear if you use ammonia to clean clothes: Combine equal amounts of water, laundry detergent and ammonia in a spray bottle, and mix well. Apply this solution on the stains with a sponge or soft cloth, let it sit for 30 minutes, and then launder as usual.
PRECAUTION : Do not mix ammonia with chlorine bleach. Combined, the two produce a toxic gas. Ammonia is a versatile laundry additive, vanquishing stains and dissolving grease as well as whitening whites and softening your bath towels. But its fumes and dangerous reactions when mixed with other household cleaners mean you need to be careful when using it. To start, only use clear ammonia for your laundry -- colored products can potentially stain fabric, especially lighter colors. Avoid using ammonia on wool or silk. Ammonia eats through proteins, including those that make up both fabrics.
Ammonia Liquor helps clean the grease from my jeans. Doesn't turned jeans a different color. It also good to add 1 cup of liquor ammonia to good white clothes instead of bleach, since that turns them yellow.
Further, Ammonia Liquor also useful to clean colored towels. No color change there either. You can't smell it after the wash cycle, but don't breath the fumes in while adding it though.
Remove Concrete Stains
If you've got discolored stains on your concrete you can remove them with a mixture of 1 cup of ammonia diluted in a gallon of water. Pour onto the discolored concrete, scrub well, and then rinse off completely with a hose afterward.
Clean Windows
Ammonia is a common ingredient in glass cleaners for a reason. It works well for cleaning and doesn't tend to leave streaks on your glass since it evaporates quickly. A simple recipe is one cup of ammonia diluted in 3 cups of water.
Laundry Detergent Booster
Because ammonia is an alkaline substance it can be used as a laundry booster. It will help brighten laundry and also it's alkaline nature helps detergents perform better. You can add 1/2 cup of household ammonia to the water, along with the detergent, before you add clothes into the washing machine.
Laundry Stain Remover
Ammonia is also a great general laundry stain remover. Here's a homemade laundry pretreater recipe that you can mix up and use on most stains: 2/3 cup dish soap, 2/3 cup ammonia, 6 tablespoons of baking soda, and 2 cups warm water. Mix all the ingredients together into a spray bottle and use like you would any other laundry pretreater.
Remove Pencil Marks From Clothing
How many times have you, or your child, accidentally dropped a pencil and made a mark on your clothes. These pencil marks are surprisingly difficult to remove for something that is supposedly erasable. But ammonia to the rescue! Add just a couple of drops of undiluted ammonia onto the marks and then rinse. (If you're concerned about the ammonia causing damage, make sure to test in an inconspicuous area first.) Often the pencil marks are then gone!
Remove Carpet Stains
Finally, ammonia can be removed to remove a large variety of carpet stains and spots. Mix up a solution of 1 cup of ammonia and 1/2 gallon of water, and then lightly spray of sponge onto the stain. Once the stain is removed make sure to rinse thoroughly so the ammonia does not continue to work on the carpet, and then let dry thoroughly. Again, always test first in an inconspicuous area to make sure the solution does not discolor your carpet fibers, and never use this solution on a wool carpet. Ammonia actually dissolves wool fibers!
